Delegation - How to Delegate Without the Guilt

The Fulling team has begun a new video lesson! Each week in our staff meetings, we watch a culture & leadership video to aid in our professional and personal development. We are currently watching the Delegation series from EntreLeadership. Follow along each week as we learn from leaders at EntreLeadership on how to master the art of delegation without guilt, stress or fear of losing control.

The third lesson of the Delegation series is led by executive coach, Mike Howerton. He starts by sharing his experience as a leader before he knew how to delegate well. He didn’t want to make his team members do anything he wouldn’t do himself and he didn’t want to micromanage. Those were great intentions but they were very ineffective. Once he noticed a task wasn’t done correctly, it was too late.

To avoid making mistakes like these, start by completing the exercise below.

Exercise:

  1. Make a list of all the tasks you have to do in your role—the big stuff, the little stuff and everything in between!

  2. Fill in your Task Quadrant.

Stay tuned for next week’s lesson as Howerton teaches us how best to delegate the tasks in Quadrant 4 to others.
