Pressing Pause & Finding Rhythm
The Fulling Management & Accounting team has started watching a new video series! Every week in our staff meetings, we watch a culture & leadership video to aid in our professional and personal development. The series we’re watching now is by Clay Scroggins and is based on his book How to Lead in a World of Distraction.
In the final video of the series, Clay Scroggins teaches that Pressing Pause is about rhythm. It’s difficult on a daily basis to balance and juggle all the aspects of life. What Clay has found much more realistic is finding a rhythm for a season of life. On a weekly, monthly or yearly basis you can find a rhythm of pressing pause for a specific purpose of listening, reflecting, and evaluating what’s going on inside you.
Here are three reasons why finding a rhythm of pressing pause is a helpful way of life.
Rhythm is a Reminder. - Taking a regular break can remind you that the work you do is not your identity.
Rhythm is something we do to Remember. - Before the work week, you could remember why you do your job.
Rhythm is something we do to Replenish. - Regularly pressing pause can refill your emotional tank.
Questions for reflection:
When have you pressed pause in the past?
Where do you need to press pause now (take a break from)?
Why do you do what you are doing each week?
