The EDGE - Endurance
The Fulling team has begun a new video lesson! Each week in our staff meetings, we watch a culture & leadership video to aid in our professional and personal development. We are currently watching the E.D.G.E series from Adam Tarnow and David Morrison. Follow along each week as we learn the four simple, profound ways to show that you’re emotionally committed without sucking up, selling out, or being anything but the best version of you.
Today’s lesson talked about endurance, the strength one demonstrates in the face of hardship.
Adam talked about how you can develop endurance by summing it into three ideas.
DON’T RUN WHEN THINGS GET HARD
LEARN HOW TO NAVIGATE PERSONAL CONFLICT
REMIND YOURSELF OFTEN THAT PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE
Lastly, Adam reminded us that we are surrounded by easy every single day. To show that we are all in, we have to tame the desire for wanting the “easy route.” One of the most important skills to have in today’s society is the ability to say “not now.” Do hard things, then have fun.
We had a good discussion about making sure we prioritize those hard tasks in our day-to-day work while we keep in mind our most important/urgent tasks as well. One group mentioned practicing endurance in marriage relationships encouraging all of us to keep putting in the work to make our marriages last and be happy together.
Food for Thought
What did you think about the “I’m telling myself a story” approach to conflict?
Do you typically prioritize hard tasks above easy ones in your life?
Think of times in your life when you have demonstrated endurance. What has been the outcome on the occasions when you were persistent in accomplishing something?
