The Fulling team has begun a new video lesson! Each week in our staff meetings, we watch a culture & leadership video to aid in our professional and personal development. We are currently watching the Focus series from Jon Acuff. Follow along each week as we learn from Acufff the practical ways to reorient our attention from the things that don’t matter to the things that do.

Do you remember last week’s 4 prompts to help you prioritize your to-do list? Here’s a refresher:

Is there a promise?

Is money involved?

Is there an outside deadline?

Is this a domino?

As Jon walked us through his four prompts, he instructed us to place a star beside tasks that were significant, either because they contained a promise, financial significance, a deadline, or they were deemed a “domino.” Once we have listed all our tasks, Jon instructed us to move the ones with the stars toward the front of our day.

Jon said that our imaginations are bigger than our calendars. But that, of course, doesn’t mean that we should diminish our imaginations. Start applying what you’ve learned by engaging your imagination. List three key tasks that you want/need to accomplish in the upcoming week.

Food for Thought

  • Do you struggle with making verbal promises that you really can’t keep? Have you found ways to catch yourself and change how you talk about things?

  • As you review your list of tasks, ask the four questions Jon outlined in this session:

    • Is there a promise?

    • Is there money involved?

    • Is there an outside deadline?

    • Is this a domino?

As you pose these questions to each of your tasks, place the appropriate number of stars next to each task.
