Leading High-Performance Teams

The Fulling team is watching Leading High-Performance Teams by Anita Elberse.

We broke up her video into two staff meetings, so this first half of takeaways was between (0:00 - 14:02).

What does it take to foster a winning culture in any organization? To provide answers, researcher Anita Elberse turned to Formula One, a motorsport often decided by margins measured in thousandths of seconds, and where every team member needs to perform at their very best to produce a victory.

She outlines six powerful transferable leadership lessons relevant for anyone hoping to cultivate a high-performance team.  In today’s portion of the video, she outlined:

1. Set the highest standards for everyone

2. Put people front and center

We talked about what these mean in our organization.  Small things that make a big difference in our work include tidying your desk space, properly filing electronic files in appropriate folders, timeliness in responsiveness with our clients, under promising and over delivering and more.

We always try to stick to our values and genuinely show our care for our clients and their personal lives as well as business dealings.  This may mean sharing about our personal lives for them to open up or gaining their trust over time.

Food for Thought

  1. How could her example of setting high standards translate to what we do?

  2. What small things make a big difference in our work? Think of her trash/clean restroom examples.

  3. How can we put people front and center in our work together and with clients?
