The Miracle Moment: Self-Awareness: How to Mean What You Feel
The Fulling team has begun a new video lesson! Each week in our staff meetings, we watch a culture & leadership video to aid in our professional and personal development. We are starting a series called The Miracle Moment by Nicole Unice.
In this video, Nicole referred to communication as a dance in which everyone is trying to keep in step with those around them. To bring about change, you must first understand the way you react to stress and frustration. You have to know what you feel, why you are feeling it, and what to do with those feelings. In short, to communicate well you must be self-aware.
Nicole encouraged us to be “curious not condemning” and practice two new rules of engagement. The first rule is, “You are not as right as you think you are.” The second new rule of engagement is, “You are not as wrong as you think you are.”
These new rules of engagement can create both humility and empathy as we interact with coworkers. They can cause us to be curious about others and ourselves, building our self-awareness skills.
“The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn’t being said.” - Peter Drucker
Join us as we hear more from Nicole about how to align our emotions, words, and actions so that we can create meaningful change in our experiences and relationships at work.
