The Science of Connection - The Swan Effect
The Fulling team has begun a new video lesson! Each week in our staff meetings, we watch a culture & leadership video to aid in our professional and personal development. We are currently watching The Science of Connection with Vanessa Van Edwards from the Global Leadership Summit 2022. Follow along as we learn from Vanessa about practical ways to ask questions as leaders to connect with those around us.
In today’s section of the video, Vanessa talked about the SWAN EFFECT; how we tend to keep everything cool, calm, and collected above the surface or on the outside but in reality our underneath or inside could be dark and busy. Like how a swan looks above and below the water.
Vanessa reminded us that asking deep, thoughtful questions will help take your relationship with someone out of autopilot and into true connection. A majority of the video talks about asking those deep questions, but listening is equally as important. Truly listening to those responses and accepting them.
