The Fulling team just finished a new video together during recent staff meetings, Choose Brave – Todd Henry.

“As an experience, fear is actually pretty common. How we respond to that fear, however, is critical. Somehow, some of us find the conviction to be brave in the face of the fears we encounter. Author, speaker, and creative expert Todd Henry guides us through the ways in which fear can cripple and hold us back, and how leaders can leverage easy, practical tools in order to help their teams and organizations develop the bravery they need to push through uncertainty.”

  • Todd talked about bravery being choosing to do the right thing in spite of fear and uncertainty.  He encourages leaders to speak agency and optimism into others to give them Bravery.

  • Most of our groups discussed having a fear of heights.  Our fears can hold us back from trying new things at times.  We talked about rising to the occasion and being brave when we need to be for our kids, etc. in a situation.

  • Todd Henry mentions several overall aspects in Choosing Bravery.

    • Bravery to ACT

    • Bravery to LET GO

    • Bravery to WAIT

  • He challenged us to think about if we are artificially escalating planks in our life and not doing something because of the perceived consequences of failure.

  • While in the waiting stage of bravery is when we need to develop deep roots in that moment that are the firm foundation.

  • Bravery is developed through everyday practice.  Often, we’re waiting for the next big thing to be brave in, but there are things right in front of us where we need to choose brave.

Conversation Questions and Food For Thought:

  1. Brave, hopeless, resigned, victim - did you see the ways these may show up in different parts of your life?

  2. Do you have any physical fears this applies to (heights, etc.)?

  3. Are there any areas of comfort that are hard for you to venture out of?
